Thank you for stopping by my website. Here is a collection of questions that I have gotten over the years and answers. If you can't find the answer here, just let me know and I'll do what I can to help!
1. Do you do weddings?
No. Wedding photography takes a large amount of time to do it right. Having a career aside from photography really gets in the way of being able to properly engage in someone's special day.
2. Why don't you offer digital images as part of your portrait service?
I've been doing photography for a long time now and the one lesson I've seen over the years is to always protect your work. These days, a lot of photographers offer packages that included edited digital images on a usb drive or available for download. That's fine, but then if you the client turns around and takes that digital file to a mass retailer or drug store that has a printing kiosk, I can't guarantee the quality of image you will get in the end. I have a trusted company where I source my printed material from and I know that the images you are buying are going to look stunning when you receive the print. Digital images from your portrait sitting are available to download for a cost and you will be allowed to get prints or use them for social sharing.
3. "Hey, I'm just going to use an image of yours that I saw on Facebook for my business. You know, to get your name out there."
Just....no. In today's age of social media and sharing everything digitally, it's so easy to just assume that since you've seen an image somewhere, you can just use it. That's not the case. Photographers like myself do not have a brick and mortar storefront operation. We work from our homes most of the time on a shoestring budget to create art that people will enjoy. To create that art, it of course costs money and digital camera equipment is not cheap. So in order to be able to continue, I have to charge for images. If you would like to have a print for your wall, let me know, I can make it available for you to purchase. If you would like to use an image to promote your business or organization, again, let me know and we can make a commercial use arrangement available. But taking an image from somewhere online and cropping out the copyright information is theft and I will use any and all legal means to rectify the situation.
